PURPOSE:
To approve a Services Agreement to provide the payment processor for the new Transit dispatch platform.
BACKGROUND:
In 2023 Via Mobility was selected to provide Transit’s new dispatch platform. Via Mobility partners with only two companies for their payment processor. Stripe Services was chosen as the payment option for the new Transit dispatch platform. Stripe is a payment service provider that allows customers to pay for their fares with credit or debit cards. If a customer needs to pay by cash or check, they will be able to purchase tickets at the Transit Office. The Stripe Services Agreement requires the City to indemnify any of the Stripe Parties, which requires approval by the City Council.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
This payment solution will provide riders a safe and easy payment solution for their trips on Lake Havasu City Transit Direct.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Stripe Services will charge a fee that is approximately 2.9% plus 30 cents for each transaction. This fee will be deducted from the payment that is received by the City. There are no upfront charges for implementing this payment processor.
