PURPOSE:
To approve the Memorandum of Understanding with the Havasu Freedom Foundation for the Havasu Memorial Walkway.
BACKGROUND:
In 2008, the City and the Havasu Freedom Foundation entered into a Memorandum of Understanding regarding a memorial walkway that expires in April of 2024. Since that time the project has been revamped and the parties wish to enter into a new Memorandum of Understanding.
The proposed Memorandum of Understanding is for a five-year term. The Havasu Freedom Foundation is responsible to purchase the memorial bricks, replace damaged bricks, and deliver them to the City. Havasu Freedom Foundation is solely responsible for the management and administration of the project. The City agrees to accept delivery of the bricks and install them twice a year in the Havasu Memorial Walkway.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
To support the Havasu Memorial Walkway project in honoring veterans. The Havasu Memorial Walkway is a combined effort of the Havasu Freedom Foundation and the Marine Corps League, with support from the City.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Staff time and resources to install the bricks twice a year.
