Award Bid for the Airport Obstructions Light/Mark/Remove Existing Hydrants and Replace Project Construction Contract to Craig Plumbing Contractors, Inc. (Mike Wolfe)

PURPOSE:
Award bid for the Construction Contract (500450) to Craig Plumbing Contractors, Inc., for Airport Obstructions Light/Mark/Remove Existing Hydrants and Replace Project BP24-PW-104007-500450 in accordance with City Code Sections 3.10.010.2 (A.R.S. Title 34) and 3.10.030.1.
BACKGROUND:
This project was part of an overall Airport Operations Safety Improvement for removal of obstructions. In this case above ground hydrants were a collision safety concern. A project grant through the ADOT Multimodal Planning Division was awarded and accepted on April 27, 2021, for 90% construction grant funding and 10% construction local match. Total Estimated Project including Design, Construction and Construction Engineering is $450,000 with a $45,000 local match. On February 7, 2024, sealed bids were opened and publicly read for the project and three (3) bids were received in response.
Combs Construction Company Inc. (Glendale, AZ) - Base Bid + Allowance $577,050
Technology Construction Inc. (Prescott, AZ) - Base Bid + Allowance $348,000
The responsive low bidder is:
Craig Plumbing Contractors, Inc. (Lake Havasu City, AZ) - Base Bid + Allowance $292,960.03
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
This project will provide enhanced Airport Safety.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding in the amount of $292,960.03 is available as ADOT 90% Grant of $263,664.03 and City match from the Airport Fund of 10% in the amount of $29,296.
