PURPOSE:

To provide the City Council and the public an update for Lake Havasu City and the Colorado River with regards to Water Resources and Conservation, including Effluent Use and Recharge, Water LHC Water Conservation Plan, City, State and Federal Water Resources Update, Water Firming (LHC), Grant Updates and Future Colorado River Shortages.

 

BACKGROUND:

Lake Havasu City has taken a proactive and forward thinking outlook for our Water Resources and Conservation efforts, to maximize the supply and manage our future. The topic is an important part of Lake Havasu City’s vision and goals as well as a pillar in the City’s Vision 20/20 Revitalization Plan.

 

This update will provide the City Council and public an update on the following topics:

 

Water Resources/Consumption Update

Effluent Recharge

Water Firming

Water Conservation Plan

Grant Updates

Colorado River Shortages

State of Affairs for local, state and federal governments as it relates to the Colorado River and the Apportionment

Mohave County Water Authority

 

Over the years, Lake Havasu City has taken a positive and proactive approach to water supply, water resources, water conservation and water reuse, including the storage of water for future use (effluent and firmed water), purchased additional Colorado River water rights, put in place water conservation measures, utilized water reuse (effluent) and sought out grants and opportunities to ensure our communities long term future.

 

 

COMMUNITY IMPACT:

The efficient and effective use of our Water Resources and Supply are critical to Lake Havasu City as a community and our residents and visitors as individuals.
