PURPOSE:
Adopt an ordinance amending City Code Chapter 5.12 in order to reduce processing time.
BACKGROUND:
On June 13, 2017, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 17-1178 amending City Code Chapter 5.12, Alcoholic Beverage License, delegating approval for Special Event, Fair/Festival, and Extension of Premise Liquor Licenses to a designee, in lieu of a public hearing before the City Council, to reduce processing time. At the time, Acquisition of Control and Agent Change Liquor Licenses were overlooked and were not included in the code change. Currently all acquisition of control and agent change liquor license applications are processed and approved by City staff, as state law does not require posting or a public hearing. In order to better serve the City’s constituents, City staff prepared the proposed revisions to Chapter 5.12 of the City Code, which delegates review and recommendation authority to the City Manager for these specific types of liquor license applications.
This ordinance was introduced at the April 24, 2018, City Council meeting. Staff recommends adoption of this ordinance.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
Establishing a more efficient process for the review and approval of acquisition of control and agent change liquor license applications.
FISCAL IMPACT:
