PURPOSE:
Approval of an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with Mohave County (County) for the City’s annual share of $4,000 toward administrative costs of the County’s Rental Assistance Program.
BACKGROUND:
The City and County have partnered since 1990 to provide housing assistance to residents in need. City Council adopted Resolution No. 90-628 in 1990 authorizing City staff to formalize the partnership. The County’s Rental Assistance Program provides rental, utility, and security deposit assistance to qualified low-income families and individuals of Lake Havasu City. In the last 12 months, 144 low-income working and disabled families, homeless veterans and other residents with needs in Lake Havasu City received rental assistance.
The IGA identifies services the County will provide and defines the City’s contribution of $4,000 to defray the County’s administrative costs in support of the program. The term of this agreement is five years and either party may terminate with a thirty-day notice.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
This program is designed to help low-income families and individuals in the City with rental assistance.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding in the amount of $4,000 is included in the General Fund FY18-19 Tentative Budget.

I move to adopt Resolution No. 18-3221 approving and authorizing the City Manager to execute the Intergovernmental Agreement with Mohave County for the County’s Rental Assistance Program.
