Adopt Resolution No. 18-3206 Ratifying the Submission of a Grant Application with the Arizona Department of Homeland Security for Rapid Intervention Crew (RIC) Packs and Authorize Execution and Implementation of the Grant

PURPOSE:

Ratify the submission of a grant application with the Arizona Department of Homeland Security for RIC packs.

 

BACKGROUND:

The State Homeland Security Grant Program (SHSGP) is a grant program administered by the Arizona Department of Homeland Security (AZDOHS).  Together, AZDOHS with state, local, and tribal jurisdictions enhance the State’s efforts to prepare, prevent, and respond to terrorist attacks and other disasters by distributing grant funds.  Submission of the grant application was made on February 23, 2018.

 

COMMUNITY IMPACT:

The Arizona Department of Homeland Security grant funding will allow for the purchase of RIC packs.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Grant funds in the amount of $20,934.  No matching funds are required.

SUGGESTED MOTION:Recommended Action

I move to adopt Resolution No. 18-3206 ratifying the submission of a grant application with the Arizona Department of Homeland Security for Rapid Intervention Crew (RIC) packs; and authorize the City Manager to execute subsequent grant agreements, deliver all documents necessary to carry out the terms and intent of the grant, and take all steps necessary to implement the funding required by the grant, subject to necessary review and approval by the City Attorney.
