SUBJECT:Title
Adopt Resolution No. 18-3195 Approving and Authorizing the Police Chief to Execute the Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of Kingman, City of Bullhead City, Mohave County Attorney's Office, and Mohave County Sheriff's Office for the Purpose of Providing Commissioned Officers and to Continue the Ongoing Operations of the Mohave Area General Narcotic Enforcement Team (MAGNET)
Body
FUNDING SOURCE:
N/A
PURPOSE:
To adopt a resolution authorizing the Police Chief to execute the Intergovernmental Agreement with the participating agencies to continue the ongoing operations of MAGNET.
BACKGROUND:
The Lake Havasu City Police Department has participated in the Mohave Area General Narcotic Enforcement Team (MAGNET) for over twenty-five years. This task force, comprised of neighboring law enforcement agencies, is designed to provide comprehensive narcotic enforcement throughout Mohave County. The Arizona Department of Public Safety will no longer be participating in MAGNET, therefore a new IGA is necessary.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
Participation in MAGNET allows for pooled resources to aid in maintaining an effective approach to combating the regional criminal drug trade.
FISCAL IMPACT:
MAGNET will continue to fund the salary and employee related expenses for one dedicated full-time detective and reimburse overtime and employee related expenses for overtime incurred on MAGNET related duties. There is no change to the current funding allocations and seized asset-sharing formulas.
