FUNDING SOURCE:

PURPOSE:
To approve the Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of Yuma for the use of the Yuma Public Safety Training Facility.
BACKGROUND:
To become a certified Police Officer in the State of Arizona, certain criteria must be met per Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training (AZPOST) Board requirements. One of those criteria is successful completion of a Defensive Driving / Pursuit Operations Course. When a lateral officer is hired by Lake Havasu City from an out of state agency, the driving training must be completed for the officer to gain Arizona Police Officer certification. By entering into this IGA, Lake Havasu City Police Department is able to send officers to the Yuma Public Safety Training Facility to complete this portion of their certification.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
Use of the Yuma Public Safety Training Facility will allow officers to receive necessary training required for certification at a facility located in close proximity, without the need to establish a driving course facility in Lake Havasu City.
FISCAL IMPACT:
