PURPOSE:
Adopt a resolution adopting a Smoke-Free Park Campaign to extinguish smoking in Rotary Community Park.
BACKGROUND:
Students Working Against Tobacco of Lake Havasu made several presentations to both City Council and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board asking the City to address the issue of smoking in Rotary Community Park as an issue of public safety.
Earlier this year staff asked Council for direction moving forward on this issue and Council directed staff to create a policy of discouraging smoking in Rotary Community Park. This resolution solidifies that direction.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
Health benefits of children not exposed to second hand smoke.
