Adopt Resolution No. 17-3170 Approving Lease Agreement with the Lake Havasu Metropolitan Planning Organization for Office Space in the Transit Building

PURPOSE:

Approve the Lease Agreement with the Lake Havasu Metropolitan Planning Organization (LHMPO) for 493 square feet of office space in the Lake Havasu City Transit Building - 900 London Bridge Road.

 

BACKGROUND:

The LHMPO is a federally mandated and federally funded transportation policy-making organization made up of representatives from local government and governmental transportation authorities.  The United States Congress passed the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1962, which requires the formation of an MPO for any urbanized area with a population greater than 50,000. 

 

The LHMPO needs office space to conduct its operations and the City has office space available within the Lake Havasu City Transit Building.  The parties previously entered into a Lease Agreement for office space, but it was necessary to relocate the LHMPO offices within the Transit Building.  The lease includes 493 square feet of dedicated office space; use of the City’s telephone system, copier/printer, and conference room; and maintenance and janitorial services. 

 

Staff recommends approval of the Lease Agreement with the LHMPO. 

 

COMMUNITY IMPACT:

Federal funding for transportation projects and programs are channeled through the planning processes of the Lake Havasu Metropolitan Planning Organization. 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The annual lease rate of $6,345.00 is applied as an in-kind match for grant purposes.
