Adopt Resolution No. 17-3167 Ratifying Submission of a Grant Application with the Arizona Department of Public Safety for Victim Advocate Services for 2017-2020 and Authorizing Execution of Documents and Implementation of Funded Activities

PURPOSE:

Adopt resolution ratifying submission of an application for Victim Assistance Program grant funding in the amounts of $18,911, $20,762, and $22,696 for Fiscal Years 17/18, 18/19, and 19/20, respectively.

  

BACKGROUND:

The Arizona Department of Public Safety makes federal funds available to various governmental agencies for victim advocacy projects.  The City Attorney’s office applied for a three-year grant for $18,911, $20,762 and $22,696 for Fiscal Years 2017-18, 18-19, and 19-20, respectively. These funds will be used to offset the general fund expenses related to the Victim Services Specialist Position, which provides services to victims of crimes.

 

COMMUNITY IMPACT:

The Victim Services Specialist provides assistance to victims of crimes in Lake Havasu City. 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The Arizona Department of Public Safety grant in the amounts of $18,911, $20,762, and $22,696 will offset the general fund expenses related to the Victim Services Specialist position in the City Attorney’s budget (FY 2017-2018, 2018-2019 and 2019-2020, respectively).

SUGGESTED MOTION: Recommended Action

I move to adopt Resolution No. 17-3167 ratifying submission of a grant application with the Arizona Department of Public Safety for victim assistance services for 2017-2020; and authorize City staff to execute subsequent agreements, deliver all documents necessary to carry out the terms and intent of the grant, and take all steps necessary to implement and complete the activities funded and required by the grant subject to necessary review and approval by the City Attorney.
