PURPOSE:
To approve sole source purchases of Wastewater Treatment Plant parts in accordance with City Code Section 3.10.010.5 A-2
BACKGROUND:
Schreiber, LLC is the original manufacturer and supplier of the Mulberry (MTP) and Island Treatment Plants (ITP) process equipment. The parts used on this equipment are proprietary and at this time there are no other vendors that can supply units to fit this equipment. Staff continually checks with other vendors to see if “after-market” replacement parts are available. When these parts become available from other vendors then we would utilize the competitive bidding process. We requested a reduction in cost for additional quantities and were given discounts on two items (please see price sheet). This price sheet does not include incidentals or shipping. These parts are part of the process and are tax-exempt.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
Adhering to scheduled asset replacements will avoid unnecessary and excessive damage to existing infrastructure which will be a benefit to the rate payers.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Appropriations are available in the FY17-18 budget in the Wastewater Instrumentation/Controls Fund Account 531.4210.422.5228 and Capital Replacement Machinery and Equipment Fund Account 533.4210.422.6104
