PURPOSE:
Award Agreement for Professional Services (Design) for the SARA Park Sports Complex in accordance with City Code Section 3.10.040. (Project No. FA1020)
BACKGROUND:
The Sports Field Needs Assessment identified that Lake Havasu City is well below average when comparing the City’s sports field level of service with competing communities. This project will move the City forward towards satisfying the current demand for sports fields, and ultimately providing the ability to host regional tournaments and the opportunity for positive economic impacts.
These improvements include the full design for both Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the park. Phase 1 is scheduled for construction in FY 18/19 and will provide overall site grading, four new flex ball fields and two multi-use/soccer fields along with parking, playground, restroom and concession amenities.
Staff has negotiated a fee of $630,000 with Shepard-Wesnitzer, Inc. for Design Services, which we feel is fair and reasonable.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
This project will provide much needed fields and amenities for the public, local children and various local sport group leagues.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Sufficient funds are available in the Field Needs Improvement Project, Project No. FA1020, Account No 351-1840-401.62-02.
