PURPOSE:
Approve Amendment No. 3 to the Animal Care and Shelter Services Contract in accordance with City Code Section 3.10.020.12 (Contract No. WAHS15).
BACKGROUND:
Beginning in July 2012, the Lake Havasu City Police Department assumed animal control responsibilities while Western Arizona Humane Society (WAHS) retained animal care and sheltering responsibilities by contract.
Amendment No. 3 extends the current contract with WAHS for one year, effective July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018. Other items addressed in the amendment correct language to reflect current practice, as well as outline specific reporting requirements and consequences for failure to fulfill responsibilities under the contract.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
This contract provides animal care and sheltering services for Lake Havasu City, and is not specific to duties associated with the animal control responsibilities of the Lake Havasu City Police Department.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Appropriation in the amount of $250,000 is included in the Fiscal Year 2017-18 Police Department budget.
