Approve Change Order No. 1 for the Water System Improvements with ABC Asphalt, Inc.

PURPOSE:
Approve Change Order No. 1 for the Water System Improvements, Project No. WT3080, in accordance with City Code Section 3.10.040.1.
BACKGROUND:
The aforementioned contract was awarded to replace water mains in need of replacement at various locations throughout the city. After the contract was executed, the need for pavement replacement beyond the limits allotted for in the contract came to light. This additional pavement is needed in a few of the water main replacement areas; primarily due to accumulated damage from the main breaks and repairs.
Staff is requesting use of the remaining budgeted project funds in the amount of $52,278 to cover most of the cost, and an additional $10,578 for the rest of the additional pavement. This change order equates to a 4.67% increase to the total overall budget.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
Performing the additional pavement replacement as part of this project will not only provide the residents with an improved roadway, but also reduces the inconvenience and provides value in efficiency in not performing the pavement construction as a separate contract.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Sufficient funds are available in Account No. 521.4110.421.6204, $52,278 from WT3080 and $10,578 will be transferred from WT7160.
