PURPOSE:
Adopt an ordinance to amend City Code Section 2.62.020, Employee Groups, to amend eligible position classifications.
BACKGROUND:
City Code Section 2.62.020 currently lists only a portion of the eligible position classifications related to the meet and confer process. City Operating Policies and Procedures (OPP) 3.24 contains a complete list of the eligible employee groups and is regularly updated.
It is staff’s recommendation to eliminate the duplicate listing of the eligible position classifications. It is recommended to maintain the listing in the OPP only and have the City Code refer to the OPP as shown on the proposed ordinance. This will eliminate the possibility of inconsistency and duplication of work product. This ordinance was introduced at the last City Council meeting and staff recommends adoption of this proposed ordinance.
