Approve the 2017-2018 Memorandum of Understanding with the Lake Havasu Police Officers Association

PURPOSE:
To approve the annual Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) with the Lake Havasu Police Officers Association.
BACKGROUND:
City Code Chapter 2.62, adopted in April of 2004, allows specifically designated employee groups to engage in formal process designed to foster improved communications and working relationships. As a result, the MOU between the City and the Lake Havasu Police Officers Association is being brought before City Council for review and approval.
In addition to housekeeping updates, the following changes are included in the MOU for 2017-2018:
• Job titles of Detention Officer Supervisor and Property/Evidence Technician were added to the “Police Unit” employee group
• References to General Orders were updated to reflect current Lexipol policies throughout the MOU
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
The meet and confer process provides avenues of communication between management and the workforce resulting in enhanced services to the community.

I move to approve the Memorandum of Understanding with the Lake Havasu Police Officers Association for a term of July 1, 2017, to June 30, 2018, and authorize the City Manager to execute the MOU on behalf of the City.
