PURPOSE:
To award bid for the Dick Samp Memorial Park, Pickleball Courts Project in accordance with City Code Section 3.10.040. (Project No. PK1000)
BACKGROUND:
On September 29, 2016, sealed bids were opened for the project and four bids were received in response. The responsive bidders are as follows:

AJP Electric, Inc
Phoenix, AZ $189,477.00
T.R. Orr, Inc
Kingman, AZ $198,942.00
Merrill/Walker Builders, Inc.
Yuma, AZ $252,570.98
The base bid of $171,542.69 is $36,459.34 above the Engineer's Estimate.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
Pickleball is quickly becoming a very popular racquet sport which is played with a net mounted lower than a tennis net. The game combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis and is played with a paddle and a whiffle ball. This project will provide 4 new outside courts for the purpose of playing Pickleball. Currently there are no outside courts in which the league and others can use for play.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds in the amount of $147,844 are available in the CIP Fund for the Pickleball Court Project, Project No. PK1000. Additional funds to cover the cost of the base bid are available in the Havasu 280 Infrastructure Construction Project, Project No. PR2070. PR2070 is funded by an operating transfer from the Refuse Fund to the CIP Fund.
Sufficient funds are available in MSD’s Special Projects & Supplies Account, Account No. 110.3220.401.4625 for the Alternate #1.
