Approve Purchase of Back-Up and Recovery System from Dell Marketing

PURPOSE:
Authorize Lake Havasu City IT Division approval to purchase a Dell Rapid Recovery system in accordance with City Code § 3.10.010.5 (A)(17).
BACKGROUND:
Over the past several years the City has seen a rapid growth in the size of the network, number of systems and the amount of data the City stores on the network. The IT Division must be able to recover a system and all data at any point and time based on the SLA (Service Level Agreement). To accomplish this and reduce the possibility of lengthy outages the City should invest in a backup and recovery system capable of restoring anything from a single file to multiple servers. This new system will allow the City to move away from tape backups to a more robust offsite hardware storage location. Due to the size of data and retention policies, tapes are no longer a viable option. Cloud based storage or an offsite storage server should be utilized in the near future.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
A more reliable and efficient backup and recovery system will minimize outages to systems that provide services to the citizens and guests of Lake Havasu City.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds in the amount of $74,531.92 are budgeted in account 110-1620-401-52.74 for fiscal year 2016-2017.
