Body
FUNDING SOURCE:
CIP-General Fund
PURPOSE:
Award Agreement for Engineering Services for the Downtown Design Guidelines (Project No. ST3240) in accordance with City Code Section 3.10.040.
BACKGROUND:
Indicated as the PARA Study and Implementation Project in the current CIP, the project will review, discuss and compile the recommendations from 2007 R/UDAT, the 2012 PARA Study and the 2015 ABC Vision 20/20 into a Downtown Design Guide that will be used in the engineering and design of future downtown roadway improvement projects.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
The Downtown Design Guide will be instrumental in the engineering and construction of approximately $10 Million worth of proposed roadway improvement projects for the downtown area over the next 5 years. The guide will ensure overall improvements and styles flow throughout the area, creating a more defined and consistent “Downtown Corridor”. The project will provide the opportunity for enhancement of pedestrian access and safety through parking and roadway improvements.
Staff will also create a Downtown Group, which will include selected property owners, business owners and other stakeholders that represent the area. The formation of the group will allow the opportunity for input into the vision and organization of the document.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Sufficient funds are available in the PARA Study and Implementation, Project No. ST3240, Account No. 110-7130-405.31-11.
