PURPOSE:
Adopt resolution ratifying submission of an application to the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for the purchase of TRACs Mobile Citation Equipment in the amount of $40,000.00.
BACKGROUND:
The Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety makes federal funds available to various law enforcement agencies for highway safety projects. In March 2016, the Police Department applied for grant funding for the purchase of mobile citation equipment that will replace the antiquated E-ticket devices currently being used. The new mobile citation units will interface with our current report management system as well as with the Court system.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
The mobile citation equipment being requested through this grant will improve the efficiency and accuracy of the citation process. Timely transmittal to both the Police Department and Court records management systems and enhanced statistical data reporting will also be achieved.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Grant funding in the amount of $40,000.00. No matching funds are required for this grant.
