Adopt Resolution No. 16-3081 Amending Resolution No. 16-3065 Approving and Authorizing the City Manager to Execute an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Lake Havasu Unified School District No. 1 for District Events Performed in Conjunction with the City During the 2016-17 School Year

PURPOSE:

Amend Resolution No. 16-3065 approving and authorizing the City Manager to execute an Intergovernmental Agreement for District Events performed in conjunction with the City during the 2016-17 School Year.

 

BACKGROUND:

In recent years, the events and activities conducted between District and the City have increased.  The purpose of this Intergovernmental Agreement (“Agreement”) is to streamline the necessary processing and coordination of these events.  Events may include, but are not limited to, beautification of the City, field trips, mock City Council, and other similar activities.  Previous events include the Day of Service, Arbor Day Event, Field Trips, and the Earth Month Project. 

 

Previously, a separate intergovernmental agreement was prepared for each event.  The proposed Intergovernmental Agreement establishes the processes and procedures to be utilized by the parties for events performed by the District in conjunction with the City for the 2016-17 School Year.  All District events will be processed and coordinated through the City’s Event Coordinator. 

 

On July 12, 2016, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 16-3065 approving this agreement; however, the District requested minor changes after approval.  The changes are as follows:

 

Section III (3) To assign a group leader for each event and that crew group leader shall have a copy of this Agreement at all times during activities.

 

Section III (5) District shall furnish supervision by one or more adults for every eight (8) ten (10) student participants in event activities.
