PURPOSE:
Approve cooperative purchase for office supplies, janitorial supplies, and furniture in accordance with City Code ยง 3.10.010.5 (A1).
BACKGROUND:
The City has participated in a stockless warehouse program for office supplies and furniture since 1996 utilizing various cooperative purchase agreements. Savings are realized through substantial discounts off retail prices, and free and expedited shipping to reduce the need to stock inventory. The City also receives a 1% Cash Rebate Program based on annual purchases.
The City is eligible to participate with the National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA), which allows the City to utilize the office supplies, janitorial supplies, and furniture contracts with Staples Advantage.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
Savings on supplies has a positive effect on the City's fiscal health.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The City anticipates spending approximately $90,000 with Staples Advantage in FY 2015-2016. Budgeted funds are allocated in the individual department accounts as part of the FY 2015-2016 Budget.
