PURPOSE:
Approve cooperative purchase of a BraunAbility Promaster ADA Low Floor Van and Ford E-Transit ADA Van utilizing the Cooperative Purchase Agreement 500170 in accordance with City Code § 3.10.010.3(A)(1).
BACKGROUND:
The vehicles will enhance the Transit fleet and better meet the needs of our Transit services. Currently there are two vehicles in the fleet that have met or are nearing their useful life. We have a 2017 Dodge Caravan with over 96,000 miles and a 2015 ADA vehicle with over 82,000 miles. Vehicle maintenance needs are increasing and the need to replace these vehicles with newer more efficient vehicles is a priority.
The Ford E-Transit ADA Van will be a good opportunity to see if an electric vehicle is a cost-effective solution to rising fuel and maintenance costs for Transit. This vehicle is covered under a Ford warranty of 8 years or 100,000 miles for the charging related components. The vehicle configuration will be 4 passengers in the rear with one wheelchair position including a lift.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
Providing a cost-effective and reliable fleet of vehicles allows Lake Havasu City Transit to meet its goals of providing efficient and effective services and programs for the community.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for the BraunAbility Promaster ADA Low Floor Van and the Ford E-Transit ADA Van will be funded from Lake Havasu City’s apportionment of 5307 funding. These vehicles have a 15 % match from Lake Havasu City. These vehicles are in the Fiscal Year 2023-24 budget to purchase this year. The Transit’s operations and maintenance budget will cover any expenditures related to these vehicles.

I move to approve and authorize the City Manager to execute Amendment No. 1 to the Cooperative Purchase Agreement with Creative Bus Sales to renew for one additional term through April 30, 2024, revise the pricing schedule, and approve the purchase of a BraunAbility Promaster ADA Low Floor Van and Ford E-Transit ADA Van in the amount of $257,026.
