PURPOSE:
To consider adopting a resolution designating the Island Multiuse Path as “Dean Barlow Legacy Loop” at the request of a citizen in accordance with City Operation Policies and Procedures (O.P.P.) 7.01 - Street Naming and Renaming.
BACKGROUND:
On July 10, 2026, Lake Havasu City received a citizen request (completed application attached) to name the Island Multiuse Path in honor of the late Dean Barlow, “Dean Barlow Legacy Loop.” Mr. Barlow was a resident of Lake Havasu City for more than thirty (30) years. Dean loved Lake Havasu City and his contributions to our community are many. A few of the things he did for the community include served on the City Council for 8 years; donated time and money to the animal shelter, continuing education, and the museum; helped fund the inaugural Havasu Shop with a Cop program; and served on the Keep Havasu Beautiful Board just to name a few.
In accordance with O.P.P. 7.01, the request was submitted to the Director of Public Works who convened the required Review Committee. The Review Committee analyzed the request and is recommending approval.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
O.P.P. 7.01 - Street Naming and Renaming recognize the public benefit from honoring notable citizens while having a standard for street naming/renaming.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding is allocated and available in the Fiscal Year 2026-27 Parks and Recreation Department operations budget at an approximate cost of $500.

I move to adopt Resolution No. 26-3946 as “Dean Barlow Legacy Loop” in honor of Dean Allan Barlow and authorize City staff to take the appropriate actions to accomplish this action.
