COUNCIL COMMUNICATION

TO:                                          Honorable Mayor and Council

FROM:                     Kelly Garry, City Attorney

SUBJECT:Title

Discussion Regarding the Continuation of the Community Resource Coalition (Kelly Garry)

Body

FUNDING SOURCE:

N/A

PURPOSE:

To discuss the continuation of the Community Resource Coalition.

BACKGROUND:

At the January 24, 2023, City Council meeting, a future agenda item was requested regarding making the Community Resource Coalition a permanent City board.

The Community Resource Coalition (“Coalition”) was created by resolution (Resolution No. 22-3571, 4/26/22) of the City Council for the purpose of developing a request and evaluation process, evaluating funding requests received, and recommending funding distributions to the City Council for the $1,000,000 allocated by the Council for community resources purposes.

The Coalition met several times in fulfilling its duties and finalized its recommendation to the City Council at its last meeting held on February 9, 2023.

Under the resolution, the Coalition automatically dissolves upon the final disbursement recommendation to the City Council.  Unless the City Council sends the final disbursement recommendation item back to the Coalition for further action, the Coalition will be dissolved.

If the Council desires to continue the Coalition, a new resolution or other action would be necessary for the creation of a formal City Council board.

COMMUNITY IMPACT:

Assisting the community in the areas of food, housing, medical services, agency services, childcare, senior adult care, senior services, housing, or other social service needs.
