PURPOSE:
To present the updated Strategic Transportation Safety Plan.
BACKGROUND:
The Lake Havasu Metropolitan Planning Organization (LHMPO), in partnership with the Western Arizona Council of Governments (WACOG), is updating its Strategic Transportation Safety Plan (STSP) with the help of Greenlight Traffic Engineering. The LHMPO is looking to inform and engage the public and its stakeholders for feedback on the state of its region’s roadway safety. Greenlight will discuss the status of the STSP’s update, provide updated crash statistics, and solicit feedback from the public and stakeholders.
The WACOG Transportation Planning Department was recently awarded Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) funding to update the Strategic Transportation Safety Plan originally completed in 2018.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
Covering both Mohave and La Paz Counties, the Strategic Regional Transportation Safety Plan Update will re-examine regional objectives and strategies proposed in the 2018 Safety Plan to better serve the needs of the public safely and practically.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This plan update intends to serve as support for future Federal and State grant applications.
