PURPOSE:

To make a recommendation to the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses & Control regarding a Series #8 Conveyance Liquor License application for Nautical Water Sports Center.

BACKGROUND:

Craig William Reynolds has applied for a Series #8 Conveyance liquor license for Nautical Water Sports Center, 1000 McCulloch Boulevard. All posting requirements have been met, all fees have been paid, and no objections were received.  This location is properly zoned for a Series #8 liquor license.

Series #8 - Conveyance License: A specialized “on-sale” license that authorizes the sale and service of all types of spirituous liquor for consumption exclusively in a specific, licensed moving conveyance. This license is crucial for businesses that operate public or private transportation services where alcoholic beverages are offered to passengers during transit. Common conveyances that typically require this license including railroad cars (dining cars, lounge cars, or private rail services), aircraft (commercial or private flights offering alcoholic beverages), and boats or ships (passenger vessels, tour boats, or cruise ships operating within Arizona’s navigable waters). Holders of this license are permitted to:

Sell all Spirituous Liquor: Offer and sell beer, wine and distilled spirits

On-Board Consumption Only: All Sales must be for consumption solely within the confines of the specified conveyance while it is in operation

Serve Passengers: Provide alcoholic beverages as an amenity or service to passengers

Not Location-Specific in the Traditional Sense: Unlike fixed-location licenses, the Series 8 applies to the moving vehicle itself; however, each license will still need a location in which the product is received and stored.

Applicant must hold all necessary federal, state, and local licenses and permits required to operate the specific type of conveyance.

This application was reviewed internally with the following comments:

Administrative Services Department:
