PURPOSE:
To consider approving an Interlocal Participation Agreement to facilitate the utilization of cooperative purchasing contracts issued by National Purchasing Cooperative (also known under the trade name for BuyBoard®) for the purchase of goods, products, materials, and services.
BACKGROUND:
Lake Havasu City is a member of several nonprofit cooperative purchasing organizations and utilizes numerous existing government-awarded supplier contracts for the purchase of goods and services. Examples of purchases through this program include aquatics, technology, fire, police, and fleet equipment, maintenance, repair, operating products, and services.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
Use of cooperative contracts are advantageous because they provide market share leverage by combining government and nonprofit purchase requirements with other public entities thereby gaining economies of scale. The City obtains budgetary benefits achieved through combined volume purchases, delivery and supply chain advantages, best practices, and the reduction of administrative time and expenses.
