PURPOSE:
Approve Amendment No. 1 to the Animal Care and Shelter Services Contract in accordance with City Code Section 3.10.020.12.
BACKGROUND:
The City has a long-standing relationship with Western Arizona Humane Society (WAHS) for animal care, sheltering, and related services. Beginning July 2012, the Police Department was delegated animal control responsibilities while WAHS retained animal care and sheltering responsibilities by contract.
The proposed amendment extends the current animal care and shelter services contract with WAHS for one year, effective July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
This contract provides animal care and sheltering services for Lake Havasu City, and is not specific to duties associated with the animal control responsibilities of the Lake Havasu City Police Department.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Appropriation in the amount of $250,000 is included in the FY 2015-16 Police Department budget.
