PURPOSE:
To approve an agreement (500544) for professional services (design) for the North Havasu Additional Tank and Distribution Line Project in accordance with City Code §§ 3.10.010.2 (ARS Title 34) and 3.10.030.1.
BACKGROUND:
In March of 2024 a technical memorandum was completed by Jacob’s Engineering Group that concluded an additional tank reservoir was needed at the northern reservoir site located by the airport and it needed to be sized at 750,000-gallons.
In May of 2024 Tank Industry Consultants was selected by the City to design a new 750,000- gallon tank. Staff negotiated a design price of $74,480, which appears to be a reasonable fee for such a project.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
The construction of the North Havasu Additional Tank, a 750,000-gallon steel welded tank, will not only allow for continued service and increased storage capacity as the City’s population continues to grow, but also permits much needed maintenance to be performed on the existing 2.0 MG tank that will be adjacent to the new tank.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds in the amount of $74,480 are allocated and available in the Fiscal Year 2024-25 Capital Improvement Plan utilizing Water Utility Funds for the North Havasu Additional Tank and Distribution Line Project.
