PURPOSE:
To consider approving the 2025 Transit Asset Management Plan (TAM) as required by the Federal Transit Administration.
BACKGROUND:
All transit agencies that own, operate, or manage capital assets used in the provision of public transportation and receive federal financial assistance under 49 U.S.C. Chapter 53 either as recipients or sub recipients must develop a TAM plan. A TAM plan is a tool that will aid transit providers in assessing the current condition of its capital assets, determine what the condition and performance of its assets should be, deciding how to best balance and prioritize reasonably anticipated funds towards improving asset conditions and achieving a sufficient level of performance within those means.
The original TAM plan was approved by the City Council in 2022. The plan has since been revised to provide a more accurate assessment of the useful life of our transit vehicles for replacement. Over the past three years, we have gathered sufficient data that allows us to make more informed decisions regarding our vehicle assets.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
The adoption of this plan provides Lake Havasu City with the ability to receive federal funding for our transit programs that benefit our residents and the users of our transit system.
