General Fund

PURPOSE:

To consider the award of two service contracts for Citywide Pest and Weed Control Services (ITB No. B27-PW-500814), Contract No. 500814 to Parker Pest Control, LLC, for pest control and related pest abatement services and Contract No. 500840 to URW, LLC, dba United Right-of-Way for weed control services.

Local preference was evaluated but did not alter the outcome of the award recommendation.

The Invitation to Bid allows award by category or line item to the responsive and responsible bidder to serve the best interests of the City. Staff recommends awarding Category A - Pest Control, Category C - Rodent & Termite Control, and Category D - Wasps, Bees, Hornet Abatement to Parker Pest Control, LLC, and Category B - Weed Control to URW, LLC, dba United Right-of-Way. Categories C and D provide as-needed pricing for services such as termite treatment, rodent control, bee/wasp/hornet abatement, and miscellaneous pest control so the City can address needs as they arise within the approved budget.

These contracts will have an initial term of one (1) year with the option to renew for four additional one-year terms.

COMMUNITY IMPACT:

The contracts provide routine and as-needed pest and weed control at City facilities, utility sites, roadsides, and other public properties. These services help protect public health and safety, prevent property damage, reduce weed-related fire and nuisance hazards, and maintain City facilities and public areas.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Sufficient funds are allocated and available for the total cost estimates in the bids for Pest Control, Weed Control, Rodent & Termite Control, and Bee & Wasp Abatement in the Public Works Facilities Maintenance Budget.
