PURPOSE:
To consider the purchase of emergency medical equipment/supplies and to authorize annual expenditures over $50,000 utilizing the cooperative purchase agreement (500079) with Bound Tree Medical, LLC (Contract No. T20-050-001) in accordance with City Code §§ 3.10.010.3(A)(1) and 3.10.030.1.
BACKGROUND:
The City has a Cooperative Purchasing Agreement 500079 with Bound Tree Medical, LLC, through the City of Tempe, Arizona Contract No. T20-050-001 until June 30, 2025. This agreement allows the department to procure emergency medical supplies for the Fire Department’s Emergency Medical Service Program.
In response to the implementation of a 911 medical ground ambulance transport program, and in consideration of the current demand for service, it has become necessary to acquire additional medical equipment and supplies to restock the ambulances. The procurement of these additional medical supplies from Bound Tree Medical, LLC, is anticipated to exceed the $50,000 annual threshold.
Therefore, the Fire Department is seeking approval to procure the required additional medical equipment and supplies from Bound Tree Medical, LLC, ensuring that the total expenditure does not exceed the allocated budget for the Fiscal Year 2024-25.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
The procurement of medical equipment and supplies is essential to ensuring the continued operation of the Fire Department's ground ambulances, thereby making a significant and positive impact on our community. Our objective is to maintain well-equipped ambulances capable of effectively serving our community and meeting the demands of emergency medical incidents.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds in amount of $126,400 are allocated and available for medical equipment/supplies in the Fire Department’s Emergency Medical Services budget within the General Fund.
