PURPOSE:

To consider adopting a resolution approving the Memorandum of Understanding with the Arizona Supreme Court for use of the eAccess Web Portal.

BACKGROUND:

In 2019, the City Attorney’s Office entered into an MOU with the Arizona Supreme Court to access a web-based portal called eAccess. eAccess provides convenient 24-7 online access to case records and documents that are unrestricted and open to the public.

The Police Department would like to use eAccess to assist with background investigations and gain information related to the release of certain property and evidence items.  This Memorandum of Understanding consolidates access for the City Attorney’s Office and the Police Department into one agreement.  In order to use eAccess, it is necessary to enter into this Memorandum of Understanding.

COMMUNITY IMPACT:

Increases access to case records and documents and allows more efficiency.
