PURPOSE:

To consider making a recommendation to the Arizona Department of Revenue regarding a Class A Bingo License Application for Lake Havasu City Community Center.

 

BACKGROUND:

Ms. Gabby Vera has applied for a Class A Bingo License for Lake Havasu City Community Center. The applicant is applying for a new bingo license with games of bingo to be played on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Lake Havasu City Community Center, located at 100 Park Avenue.

 

The application was reviewed internally with the following comments:

 

Development Services Department/Zoning:

No objections. No outstanding violations or issues with this property. The property is zoned Public Facilities (P-1) which permits indoor recreation activities.

 

Administrative Services Department:

No objections.

 

Fire Department:

No objections.

 

Police Department:

No objections.

 

Class A licenses are designed for individuals or groups who want to conduct bingo games primarily for recreational purposes. Class A licenses may be issued to a person for the conduct of bingo games for which the gross receipts do not exceed $75,000 per year. In accordance with state statutes, the local governing body shall upon receipt of the application immediately set a hearing on the application to be held within forty-five days. Following receipt of the application and the hearing, the local governing body shall recommend approval or disapproval of the application to the Arizona Department of Revenue.
