PURPOSE:
To consider approving an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with Arizona Department of Water Resources (ADWR) to host an Arizona Continuously Operating Reference Station Site (AZCORS) site.
BACKGROUND:
The ADWR manages and operates a statewide AZCORS Network. There are 26 CORS sites located throughout the State that provide real-time and post-processed data for surveying, mapping, infrastructure, and emergency response projects. There is currently a CORS site at the Mohave County Building a few miles south of the airport in Lake Havasu City.
The ADWR would like to relocate this site to the airport which would include a braced monument, electronics cabinet, and solar panel. The proposed site is on the east side of the airport in the vicinity of the airport beacon and automated weather observing system (AWOS) and will not have any impact on airport operations or planned development.
As required, a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Form 7460-1, Notice of Proposed Construction or Alteration, was submitted to the FAA describing the CORS site and proposed airport location. The FAA has no objection to the construction.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
The Lake Havasu City Airport is a vital economic and transportation hub in our community. It plays a significant role in the local economy as well as bringing in many work-related visitors (military and civilian training).
FISCAL IMPACT:
