Discussion and Action: Resolution No. 26-3637 Declaring and Adopting the Official Canvass of the Results of the Primary Election Held on July 21, 2026 (Kelly Williams)

PURPOSE:

To consider adoption of a resolution accepting the results of the July 21, 2026, Primary Election as presented, canvassed, and declared official by the Mohave County Board of Supervisors.

 

BACKGROUND:

On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, Lake Havasu City held a Primary Election for the purpose of nominating one (1) Mayor and three (3) Councilmembers for the November 3, 2026, General Election. On Monday, August 3, 2026, the Mohave County Board of Supervisors canvassed and declared the July 21, 2026, Primary Election returns official by Mohave County Resolution No. 2026-136.

 

The official results of the Lake Havasu City Primary Election were as follows:

                                                                                                         

The total number of ballots cast in the Lake Havasu City Primary Election was 15,639.

Any candidate who receives at the Primary Election a majority of all the votes cast shall be declared to be elected to the office for which that person is a candidate effective as of the date of the General Election.

 

COMMUNITY IMPACT:

The Mayor and Councilmembers are elected at large by the qualified electors of Lake Havasu City and are responsible for the overall policies and direction of the City.

POSSIBLE MOTION:Recommended Action

I move to adopt Resolution No. 26-3637 accepting the results of the July 21, 2026, Primary Election as presented, canvassed, and declared official by the Mohave County Board of Supervisors by their Resolution No. 2026-136.

Based on the certification of the Official Canvass of the July 21, 2026, Lake Havasu City Primary Election results, it is found, determined, and declared of record that Cal Sheehy was elected to the Office of Mayor in and for Lake Havasu City and is issued a Certificate of Election.

 

Further, based on the certification of the Official Canvass of the July 21, 2026, Lake Havasu City Primary Election results, it is found, determined, and declared of record that Michele Lin and Sam Scarmardo were elected to the Office of Councilmember in and for Lake Havasu City and are hereby issued a Certificate of Election.

 

Further based on the certification of the Official Canvass of the July 21, 2026, Lake Havasu City Primary Election results, it is found, determined, and declared of record that a General Election will be held on November 3, 2026, to elect one (1) Councilmember. The following two (2) candidates received the highest number of votes and shall have the right to have their names placed upon the official ballot for the Office of Councilmember at the General Election: 

Jeni Coke

Neil Tinsley

 

All successful candidates in the Primary Election and General Elections will take office on November 24, 2026.
