PURPOSE:
To consider an Amendment No. 1 to the Funding Agreement with Go Lake Havasu (GLH).
BACKGROUND:
The City entered into a Funding Agreement with Go Lake Havasu for destination marketing dated May 17, 2023 (Agreement).
At a recent City Council work session, a request was made to revise the Agreement to require a GLH Board seat, with voting privileges, for a member of the City Council. The current Agreement requires a GLH Board seat, with voting privileges, for the City Manager and an ex-officio seat for a member of the City Council.
The proposed Amendment replaces the board seat with voting privileges with a member of the City Council and removes the ex-officio seat.
The proposed Amendment revises Agreement Section A(7), deletes Section A(8), and renumber the remaining subsections as follows (tracked: ALL CAPS and underlined is proposed new language and strikethrough is proposed deleted language):
IV. GLH Duties, Obligations, and Responsibilities
A. GHL agrees to the following:
7. Provide a seat on the GLH Board, with voting privileges, for a member of the City Council for the City Manager or designee, as determined by the City.
8. Provide an ex-officio seat on the GLH Board for a member of the City Council, as determined by the City.
98. Provide the City Manager with studies and reports commissioned by GLH.
109. Seek grant funds to promote tourism and Lake Havasu City.
1110. Perform projects assigned by the City Council or City Manager that fall under the expertise of the GLH. Requests are submitted to GLH in writing.
1211. Present, at a minimum, annually to the City Council a summary of GLH’s
accomplishments. GLH agrees to contact the City to schedule a time to present during the first quarter of each calendar year.
