Discussion and Action: Purchase of Repair Services for the Bombay Lift Station Pump from DXP Enterprises, Inc. (Thilak Fernando)
Body
FUNDING SOURCE:
Wastewater Fund
PURPOSE:
To consider approving the purchase of repair services for the Bombay Lift Station Pump utilizing DXP Enterprises, Inc., under the City of Chandler Water and Wastewater Equipment Maintenance and Repair Services cooperative (Contract 500206) in accordance with City Code §§ 3.10.010.3.A.1, 3.10.010.3.A.3, and 3.10.030.1.
BACKGROUND:
Bombay Lift Station is a vital component in the force main system, pumping wastewater to the North Regional Treatment Plant. All the pumps needed to be in good condition to avoid any collection system issues leading to failure, necessitating an emergency repair.
The cost of the Bombay Lift Station Pump repair has been quoted at $90,000 while the purchase of a new pump would be $230,311. Since this pump has not reached the end of its useful life, repairing it under the existing cooperative contract is a more cost-effective solution.
The City entered into a Cooperative Purchase Agreement with DXP Enterprises, Inc. (formerly Hennessy Mechanical) in November of 2021 for Water and Wastewater Equipment Maintenance and Repair Service.
