PURPOSE:
To consider the cooperative purchase of traffic signal cabinets and other required equipment utilizing Maricopa County’s Cooperative Purchase Contract #200125-C, under the City’s Cooperative Purchase Agreement 500057, with Econolite Control Products, Inc., in accordance with City Code §§ 3.10.010.3(A)(1) and 3.10.030.1.
BACKGROUND:
Econolite Control Products, Inc., manufactures and sells traffic signal equipment that is compatible with equipment that City currently uses. The Streets Division is implementing an upgrade replacement program. Three (3) new traffic signal cabinets are needed to upgrade and standardize traffic signals this Fiscal Year 2024-25, with a goal to upgrade three complete intersections each subsequent year.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
The installation of the traffic cabinets will provide safety enhancements and upgrade existing infrastructure. The three (3) traffic signal cabinets will be installed at the intersections of Industrial Boulevard and Lake Havasu Avenue, South Palo Verde Boulevard and Lake Havasu Avenue, and South Palo Verde Boulevard and Acoma Boulevard North. This purchase provides greater economy through leveraged pricing.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding in the amount of $85,000 is allocated and available in the Fiscal Year 2024-25 HURF budget for this project. The estimated cost of the three (3) traffic cabinets is $64,418 with $20,582 available for any additional unforeseen equipment needed.
