PURPOSE:
To consider adopting a resolution accepting a grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety and approving a Memorandum of Understanding with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) for the National Center for Driving While Intoxicated Training. The grant funds will allow designated staff to attend the Foundational Workshop for Impaired Driving Treatment Courts December 9th through December 12th.
BACKGROUND:
The Municipal Court was selected to receive National training from the National Center for Driving While Intoxicated Courts for a future problem-solving court. Ten (10) members of the Problem-Solving Court Team (Judge, Prosecutor, Defense Council, Behavioral Health Treatment Provider, Problem Solving Court Lead, Court Administrator, Probation, Law Enforcement, and Mentor Coordinator to attend Foundational Workshop for Impaired Driving Treatment Courts December 9th through 12th in Athens, GA.
After being selected, the Municipal Court was selected to receive grant funding from the Arizona GOHS for $13,515 that will cover all travel expenses to include lodging, airfare, per diem, and transportation.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
The grant funds will allow for the necessary training to develop an Impaired Driving Treatment Court for DUI prevention and compliance.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Grant funds in the amount of $13,515. No matching funds are required for the grant.

I move to adopt Resolution No. 24-3784 accepting the grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, approving and authorizing the City Magistrate to execute the Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of the City, and authorizing the execution of necessary documents and implementation of the activities funded by the grant.
