PURPOSE:
Award bid WW14-02 for Calcium Nitrate for odor control at various lift stations.
BACKGROUND:
On March 24, 2014, the Wastewater Division went out to formal bid for suppliers to furnish and deliver, as required, calcium nitrate chemical treatment solution to Bombay, Hagen, Queens Bay, London Bridge Road, North Centre, Port Drive, Refuge and North Palo Verde Lift Stations for FY 2014-15. On April 22, 2014 sealed bids were opened. Two bids were received.
Evoqua Water Technologies, LLC was the apparent low bidder with a gallon price of $1.789 for the calcium nitrate. Chemicals are tax exempt. This contract will run from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015, renewable up to four additional 12-month periods.
Currently Wastewater is paying $2.20 per gallon for Calcium Nitrate. Staff anticipates spending approximately $448,000 on Calcium Nitrate for FY 2014-15.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
These chemicals are used to control odors at various lift stations throughout the city.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds in the amount of $764,350 are in the proposed FY 2014-15 budget in the Wastewater Chemical and Laboratory Supplies Fund Account 531.4210.422.5214.
