PURPOSE:
Approve sole source purchase and installation of North Radio Tower in accordance with City Code § 3.10.010.5(A)(2).
BACKGROUND:
Creative Communications provided a proposal for the sole source purchase and installation of a North Radio Tower to be located at the North Water Treatment Plant near the airport. This tower will be installed in conjunction with the 800 MHZ P25 and MotoTRBO radio systems and will provide for a greater coverage area for all City staff utilizing the radio system. Utilizing the MotoTRBO system for this portion of the work provides standardization in design, equipment, and maintenance, which is critical for the radio system to work effectively.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
Extended radio coverage provided by a radio tower to the north of the City will enhance the service coverage area for all City users.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Appropriation in amount of $41,950.00 is included in the adopted Fiscal Year 2015-16 CIP budget, Project PD1050, account 351-1840-401-6204.
