PURPOSE:
To consider awarding a Professional Services Agreement (Design) for the Tank S-1C-24 Replacement Project (500864) in accordance with City Code Sections 3.10.010.2 (Technical Registrant) and 3.10.030.1.
BACKGROUND:
On August 27, 2019, City Council approved a design contract for Tank S-1C-24 with Atkins. On July 28, 2020, City Council approved a design amendment for Tank S-1C-24 due to some unforeseen design changes that required additional scope. Project plans were completed but the project never made it to the bid stage due to funding. Due to the original tank being demolished there is now a need for the replacement project to be brought back to the forefront.
Staff negotiated a fee of $127,363.98 with AtkinsRealis for Professional Services to update the plans and specifications, including design of an exterior stairway, relocating overflow pipe from the interior to the exterior, among other things.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
The construction of Tank S-1C-24, a 750,000 gallon steel welded tank, will allow for continued service and increased storage capacity as the City’s population continues to grow.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds in the amount of $127,363.98 are allocated and available in the Fiscal Year 2026-27 Capital Improvement Plan utilizing Water Utility Funds.
