FUNDING SOURCE:

PURPOSE:

To consider adopting a resolution approving the Agreement with Arizona State Parks Board to allow the Lake Havasu City Police and Fire Departments to occupy and utilize certain areas of the Water Safety and Information Center.

BACKGROUND:

The City’s Police and Fire Departments effectively utilize the facilities provided by the Arizona State Parks Water Safety and Information Center-Contact Point. The strategic use of the grounds and carefully positioned boat slips are essential for the secure storage of our emergency response vessels. This arrangement ensures that the boats are maintained in excellent condition and are readily accessible for immediate deployment in response to emergencies occurring on the lake.

In addition, the Arizona State Parks Board (ASPB) is implementing a cost-sharing program aimed at fostering collaboration among the various agencies operating within the Water Safety Center (WSC). This initiative is designed to ensure that funding effectively covers operating costs. The Agreement seeks to enhance operational efficiency and strengthen partnerships among the involved entities.

This Agreement reflects payments of $500 per quarter on behalf of the Lake Havasu City Police Department and $625 per quarter on behalf of the Lake Havasu City Fire Department to Arizona State Parks for the designated areas and utilization of the WSC.

COMMUNITY IMPACT:

This Agreement will provide the Lake Havasu City Police and Fire Departments with a centralized facility for the storage and deployment of our boats, enabling us to better serve the community on the lake.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The portion of the annual amounts of $2,000 for the Police Department and $2,500 for the Fire Department are allocated and available in the Fiscal Year 2024-25 budget, and each subsequent year will be reflected in future annual budgets.
