PURPOSE:
To consider adoption of a resolution approving the Lake Havasu City 2024 Update to the 2022 Wastewater Master Plan.
BACKGROUND:
In 2022, Lake Havasu City Wastewater Staff partnered with Jacobs Engineering to develop a comprehensive plan for the wastewater system. The plan reviewed the existing wastewater system including current and projects demands, opportunities for increasing efficiency, and suggested capital improvements. The planning horizon for this effort extended to 2040 utilizing the most recent census data from 2020.
Recently, City staff worked with Jacobs to update the document incorporating the most recent population projections into the plan. This was an effort to account for increased population growth that was slightly greater than the original projection. It was determined that the slight increase in population growth did not affect the planning required to meet the wastewater needs of the City. Staff anticipates reviewing the Wastewater Master Plan within the next 5-7 years and then extending the planning horizon beyond 2040.

COMMUNITY IMPACT:
Ongoing planning efforts that anticipate growth and development along with upgrades and improvements that maximized the effectiveness of the wastewater system.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Fiscal impact will be evaluated annually during the budget process through the update and development of the Capital Improvement Plan.
