PURPOSE:
To consider adopting a resolution approving and ratifying the City Manager’s execution of the lease for the land in which Well No. 9 is located for a term to expire on January 4, 2035.
BACKGROUND:
In January 1990, the City entered into a ten-year Commercial Lease with the Arizona State Land Department to use a parcel of State land to construct a well for municipal potable drinking water production. Since that time, the City renewed or obtained additional leases. The current lease expired on January 4, 2025. The City filed the necessary application for renewal of the lease in October 2024, and received the proposed lease in November of 2025. It was necessary to execute and return the lease to timely comply with the State’s requirement. The proposed lease is for a term of ten additional years.
COMMUNITY IMPACT:
The lease of this parcel is necessary to provide citizens with potable drinking water.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds are available in the amount of $3,000 in the Water Utility Fund.
