PURPOSE:

To provide the City Council with an update on the current progress of the Parks Master Plan. The presentation will be provided by BerryDunn. Supporting materials are attached to this agenda item, with additional information to be presented by the consultant.

BACKGROUND:

Lake Havasu City is developing its first Parks Master Plan to take a comprehensive look at the City's parks, recreational facilities, programs, and amenities and identify the community's current and future needs. The plan will provide a roadmap for future improvements, projects, and investments in the City's parks and recreation system.

As the community continues to grow and recreational needs change, having a long-term plan will help the City make informed decisions about future facilities, maintenance, improvements, and available resources. The plan will consider community input, existing facility conditions, accessibility, current levels of service, and future recreational opportunities.

The City has contracted with BerryDunn to assist with the development of the Parks Master Plan. The process includes community engagement, an assessment of existing parks and facilities, and the development of recommendations and an implementation strategy.

The current phase of the project focuses on reviewing the information gathered to date and developing recommendations for the City's parks and recreation system. Today's presentation will provide the City Council with an update on the progress of the City's first Parks Master Plan and the work completed to date.

COMMUNITY IMPACT:

The Parks Master Plan will provide the City with a long-term framework for planning and investing in parks and recreational facilities. Community input will help identify the needs, priorities, and amenities that are most important to residents. The plan will also help the City prioritize future projects and make informed decisions about available funding and resources as the community continues to grow.
